Magnolia ISD is one of the first Houston-area school districts to establish a daily prayer period on all of its campuses.

Trustees approved the move in a unanimous vote during their board meeting on February 9th.

A new state law passed last year requires all Texas school boards to vote by March 1st on whether to set up a daily period of prayer and reading the Bible or other sacred texts.

The law doesn’t require districts to create a prayer period, but to formally vote on the matter.
