A New Braunfels man is in custody and accused of threatening a mass shooting at the Audie L. Murphy Memorial Veterans’ Hospital.

San Antonio police responded around 3 p.m. Monday to a mental health call at the hospital. Hospital staff had placed William Reed Jr. in an emergency room before the police arrived.

Reed had reportedly threatened to “shoot up” the hospital and kill himself in the hospital’s parking lot if his son wasn’t present. Reed was arrested and charged with making a terroristic threat.
