A San Antonio man is now formally charged with the murder of his wife in a south Bexar County home. Charles Byrd was booked on Wednesday for murder in the death of his wife Angela.

Byrd is also charged with tampering with evidence with intent to impair a human corpse. He reportedly told investigators that he choked his wife on June 16th and then hid her body inside the house for more than a month.

Byrd had worked since 2021 for Floresville ISD as a plumber, but a spokesperson says he’s no longer employed by the district.
