A teacher at Mercedes High School is facing charges of child grooming. Oscar Olvera Rosel was arraigned Thursday and had his bond set at 20-thousand dollars.
The school district says it received a tip that Rosel was having an inappropriate relationship with a child, sparking an investigation. He was placed on administrative leave, and the information was passed on to law enforcement.
The school district does not plan to release any further information, though steps are being taken to fire Rosel.
