Texas Governor Greg Abbott is ordering State Troopers to enforce a federal “English language” requirement for commercial drivers. A loophole, which allowed some truckers to be exempt, has been closed.
The Department of Public safety is also now barred from issuing new commercial licenses to those who cannot speak English. The governor said in a statement the new rules are “critical to preventing accidents on Texas highways.”
