The U.S. Senate race in Texas is drawing enough national attention to bring former President Barack Obama onto the scene. Obama appeared on Tuesday afternoon at an Austin taco restaurant with Democratic U.S. Senate candidate James Talarico.

The former president spent about half an hour at Taco Joint on San Jacinto Boulevard, near the U-T campus, posing for pictures with Talarico and state Representative Gina Hinojosa, the Democratic nominee for governor. He referred to the two as the “next governor and senator.”
