One person is dead and a suspect is in custody after a reportedly accidental shooting in Grand Prairie.

Police responded around 3 a.m. Saturday to the fatal shooting outside a home on MacArthur Boulevard. Witnesses told officers Alexander Chavez was sitting in the back seat of a car and carelessly handling a gun. It discharged, killing the driver.

The victim’s name hasn’t been released. Chavez ran away after the shooting but was later caught and arrested for manslaughter.
