The Texas Supreme Court is rejecting an appeal by survivors of the Uvalde school shooting who tried to sue state and local police over their handling of the incident.

Five teachers and 20 students at Robb Elementary sued Uvalde County officials and the Department of Public Safety. A San Antonio appeals court dismissed the lawsuit in February, ruling that the plaintiffs’ claims aren’t covered by the Texas Tort Claims Act. The state Supreme Court upheld the ruling on Friday without comment.
