A man accused of starting Southern California’s Palisades Fire is facing a new set of charges. In Los Angeles Thursday, federal prosecutors filed a revised indictment against Jonathan Rinderknecht. Back in June, a judge declared a mistrial after a jury ended up in a deadlock.
The 30-year-old is accused of setting the Lachman Fire on New Year’s Day 2025. That fire was put out by the L.A. Fire Department, but it was not fully extinguished. Investigators believe dry, powerful winds rekindled the embers a week later and created the Palisades Fire.
