Republican Tony Gonzales of Texas is resigning from Congress. Gonzales ended his re-election bid last month after admitting he’d had an affair with a staffer who later committed suicide.

In a social media post, Gonzales said he’s submitting his retirement papers today. He and a fellow congressman, Democrat Eric Swalwell of California, both faced possible expulsion hearings in the House.

Swalwell also announced his resignation on Monday after claims of sexual assault were made against him.
