By Harris County Judge Lina Hidalgo no longer has ex-officio director status with the Houston rodeo. On Thursday afternoon, RodeoHouston confirmed the revocation, along with the position’s previous privileges.
Rodeo officials say Hidalgo had suite tickets to Megan Moroney’s appearance on Tuesday. They say Hidalgo and her group tried to access the chute seats, which were sold out. Officials say they asked her several times to return to the suite, and when she refused, they asked her to leave.
Hidalgo sent a letter to rodeo executives on Wednesday blaming the incident on racism, sexism, and politics.
