State Senator Mayes Middleton and US Representative Chip Roy will face each other in the GOP runoff for Texas Attorney General.

Middleton beat Roy, the early frontrunner, by seven percentage points in last week’s primary election. But neither of the two conservatives topped 50 percent of the vote so as to avoid a runoff.

The rematch on May 26th is expected to be an expensive one. Middleton is an oil and gas CEO who spent nearly 15 million of his own dollars on the first round. Roy will need a flood of donations to be able to compete.
