Three San Antonio city council members want to see to it that hiring more police officers is a priority of upcoming budget sessions.

Marc Whyte, Marina Alderete Gavito, and Misty Spears filed a resolution on Thursday asking the council to hire 65 new officers in the next fiscal year. A 2023 report said the growing city needed 360 new officers.

The council agreed to a plan to hire 100 officers immediately, followed by 65 more over each of the next four years. Thursday’s resolution says the city hasn’t followed through with the plan.
