The Texas Commission on Jail Standards says the Bexar County jail is out of compliance with state minimum jail standards. The state commission conducted a surprise inspection at the jail a week after an inmate committed suicide on July 15th.

The sheriff’s office announced the finding of noncompliance on Tuesday. The commission asked the sheriff’s office to come up with a plan of action in the next 30 to 60 days. The jail was also found to be out of compliance last November, and had remedied the situation by January.
