Death row inmate Blaine Milam is the fifth convicted killer Texas has executed this year. Milam received the lethal injection on Thursday evening for killing his fiancée’s 13-month-old daughter in 2008.

Investigators say Milam and the child’s mother, Jesseca Carson, gave police different stories about Amora Carson’s death, but finally admitted they’d performed an exorcism on her.

Milam’s two previous execution dates were delayed. Jesseca Carson was found guilty of capital murder and sentenced to life without parole.
