Texas lawmakers are reacting along party lines to Wednesday’s fatal shooting of a woman in Minneapolis by an ICE officer.
Federal officials say the agent acted in self-defense when he shot the woman in her car, because she reportedly tried to run him over. Some witnesses claim she was just trying to drive away.
Republican US Representative Wesley Hunt criticized Minneapolis Mayor Jacob Frey and Minnesota Governor Tim Walz for their negative responses to the shooting. Democratic State Representative James Talarico called for an investigation of ICE. Hunt and Talarico are both running for the US Senate.
