Texas will no longer issue or renew commercial driver’s licenses to refugees, asylum seekers, or DACA recipients.

The Texas Department of Public Safety announced the policy change on Monday. CDLs are for the drivers of business vehicles such as freight trucks or buses, as well as cement mixers and garbage trucks.

Texas classifies CDLs issued to legal noncitizens as non-domicile. The state’s new policy follows the lead of President Donald Trump, who last week moved to restrict non-citizens from getting CDLs.
