By President Trump has ordered the Defense Department to establish special National Guard units trained to deal with public order issues.
Monday’s executive order comes as Trump has floated the idea of using the military to enforce law and order in American cities. That’s something he’s already done in Washington, DC, with some two-thousand Guard members deployed in the nation’s capital.
