The number of confirmed Screwworm cases in Texas has doubled. The USDA is confirming two more this morning. One involved a calf in La Salle County, which is close to the previous ones.

The fourth, though, is hundreds of miles away in Andrews County, which is near the New Mexico border. The New World Screwworm fly lays eggs in open wounds and, left untreated in animals, can cause death within days.

President Trump’s Agriculture Secretary is in Texas, today, giving an update on response efforts.
