The Texas Department of Transportation is planning to make some changes because of a Houston bridge that keeps getting hit by trucks.
The Houston Avenue Bridge over I-10 west of downtown suffered its second truck collision in three days on Saturday night. TxDOT officials have placed signs and warning systems on the freeway to alert the drivers of too-tall trucks.
For a long-term solution, TxDOT plans to demolish the bridge and reroute Houston Avenue under I-10. The project is scheduled to start in 2027 and be completed by 2028.
