Venezuela is deploying some 15-thousand troops to its border with Colombia in a stated effort to fight drug trafficking. The move comes as the United States has sent warships to the region in an operation against drug cartels.
The Trump administration has accused Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro of working with the cartels and has issued a 50-million-dollar reward for Maduro’s capture.
Maduro is accusing the U.S. of pushing for regime change and singled out Secretary of State Marco Rubio, accusing him of madness and extremism.
