Weslaco officials are celebrating after achieving a new benchmark for retail sales.

The Texas Comptroller’s Office says the city generated just over one-billion dollars in taxable retail sales last year. It’s the second straight year the city has topped the one-billion-dollar mark.

City officials say the achievement illustrates Weslaco’s desirability as a business location and indicates its potential for future economic growth.
