The Texas Lottery will soon be under new management. Governor Greg Abbott signed a new law on Sunday night that abolishes the Texas Lottery Commission but allows the lottery to continue until 2029.
As of September 1st, the games will be run by the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation. The Legislature had considered abolishing the lottery altogether, but it will continue under stricter regulations.
One of the new law’s provisions is the prohibition of online ticket sales through apps known as lottery couriers.
