Texas food stamp recipients may find their benefits cut off next month if the federal government shutdown continues past October 27th.
The Supplemental Food Assistance and Nutrition Program, or SNAP, sends about 614 million dollars in food stamps to the 3.5 million Texans who rely on them. About half of that number are children.
The agency told states last week that November’s food stamps will be withheld if the shutdown doesn’t end soon.
