Following nationwide protests over the weekend over a deadly ICE shooting in Minneapolis, Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem says hundreds more federal agents are being sent to Minnesota. Noem said the additional officers will be deployed to make sure other ICE and Border Patrol officers can carry out operations in the Twin Cities safely.

Appearing on CNN’s “State of the Union,” she also accused Minnesota Governor Tim Walz and Minneapolis Mayor Jacob Frey of “inflaming” the public following the fatal shooting of 37-year-old Renee Good. Noem said the two have politicized and inappropriately talked about the situation.
