The Republican candidates for Texas attorney general both say they’d like to see a 1975 US Supreme Court ruling overturned. In striking down a Texas law, the court ruled that even illegal immigrant children have a right to attend public schools.

US Representative Chip Roy says overturning the ruling is one of the main reasons he’s running for attorney general. State Senator Mayes Middleton says the conservative majority on the Supreme Court may overturn it.

The overturning of Roe v. Wade is encouraging conservatives go after other court precedents, including same-sex marriage and federal authority over the states.
