A nearly-one-million-dollar contract is funding eight outdoor warning sirens along the Guadalupe River in Kerr County. They’re going up in an area where many summer camps are located.

County Commissioner Tom Jones says the move marks the most concrete step yet toward a flood warning system that state leaders demanded after last year’s deadly flood.
