Waymo is expanding its robotaxi service in Houston to an area of nearly 50 square miles and adding several major destinations citywide.

Riders will soon be able to take the driverless cars to EaDo, the Texas Medical Center, and NRG Stadium, in time for the 2026 FIFA World Cup activities in June and July. Waymo launched public rides in Houston, Dallas, and San Antonio in February.

In San Antonio, a Waymo car drove into high water last week and was swept away. In Dallas, another of the company’s cars ran a red light over the weekend. There were no injuries in either incident.
