Authorities are investigating after more than 20 abandoned dogs were found in a home in Mission.

Officers began investigating after a report of a dog chasing people in the Erma Avenue area. They followed the dog to a home in the 800 block of Erma Avenue and found even more dogs on the property.

The property owner said the dogs were abandoned when the tenants were evicted from the home. Two puppies were found dead, and traps were set to catch any remaining dogs. Police say the dogs’ previous owners could face animal cruelty charges.
