An Austin-based defense technology startup is being offered major incentives to bring ten thousand jobs to Brownsville over the next 10 years.
Cameron County commissioners have approved a 211-million-dollar tax break to Saronic Technologies. The offer of a 95-percent tax abatement agreement over 20 years is an attempt to lure the company’s three-billion-dollar naval shipyard called Port Alpha to Brownsville.
If Saronic agrees, the Brownsville area will continue to grow as a tech hub, since SpaceX is right up the road.
