Governor Greg Abbott is confirming that the Texas Rangers will investigate last week’s fatal shooting of Lorenzo Salgado Araujo by an ICE agent in Houston.
The governor made the announcement on Wednesday, the day after Houston Police Chief J. Noe Diaz asked the Texas Department of Public Safety to have the Texas Rangers conduct an independent investigation of the shooting.
Abbott’s announcement is his first public comment on the matter since the shooting happened last week.
