The rain-swollen Nueces River is creating a flood threat in La Salle County. The estimated 480 billion gallons of water that fell in the Hill Country last week are still flowing downstream to the coast.

The Nueces is now at major flood stage, reaching 24 feet, and is inundating areas near the town of Cotulla. La Salle County officials have deployed about 350 personnel from agencies across Texas and neighboring states to provide emergency flood response.
