Top Texas Officials Call For Audit Of State’s Broadband Grant Funding

Lieutenant Governor Dan Patrick and House Speaker Dustin Burrows are calling for an audit of the Texas Broadband Development Office.

The lawmakers stated on Tuesday that a Senate hearing last month raised concerns about how the office was distributing more than five billion state and federal dollars.

Senators suggested the state broadband office was playing favorites with companies that provide services through low-earth orbit satellites. Patrick and Burrows said an audit would help the Legislature take appropriate action.
