Todd Blanche’s nomination for U.S. attorney general is on life-support as Texas Senator John Cornyn withholds support over a disputed Justice Department fund.
Blanche’s nomination will not be advanced by the Senate Judiciary Committee today after the Republican said he won’t vote “yes” until the DOJ provides a written commitment permanently ending a proposed one-point-eight-billion-dollars “anti-weaponization” fund.
The Justice Department says it has submitted a written proposal to address Cornyn’s concerns, though the senator says it does not meet his request.
