The Hidalgo County Sheriff’s Office is issuing a warning about an increase in suspicious phone calls.

The sheriff’s office says residents are receiving calls from people impersonating law enforcement and demanding money due to alleged missed court appearances or other legal issues.

The sheriff’s office wants to remind all residents that law enforcement will never call and demand money to clear a warrant or stop an arrest. Anyone who gets one of these calls should contact authorities as soon as possible.
