The San Antonio City Council is considering a pause on construction of new data centers in the city. Councilman Ric Galvan introduced the proposed moratorium, which would temporarily stop the city from accepting new applications for data centers.
Galvan says the idea is to buy time until state and local regulations for the rapidly growing industry can make their way onto the books. Council members met on Tuesday to discuss zoning, land and power use and water demand for data centers, and their potential impact on neighborhoods.
