The Texas race for the U.S. Senate is turning out to be one the most expensive campaigns in the nation this year.
Democratic nominee James Talarico has raised more money than any Texas general-election candidate in the past 10 years and has landed the largest quarterly haul of any Senate race.
GOP nominee Ken Paxton has raised less than a quarter of Talarico’s take since the start of the race.
The Supreme Court recently struck down federal limits on how much political parties can spend in coordination with their candidates and that decision is expected to work to Paxton’s advantage.
