A battle over spots on the municipal election ballot has generated a lawsuit in Progreso. Mayor Hugo Gamboa, Commissioner Alegria and candidate Norberto Rangel are reportedly being sued by other candidates running for office.

The lawsuit claims that Gamboa and Rangel failed to pay filing fees when they submitted their paperwork, while Alegria allegedly failed to submit mandatory information when she filed. The lawsuit seeks to remove all three from the ballot until the case is heard.
