Hidalgo County is working to reduce deaths caused by drug overdoses. The local Health and Human Services Department is operating five Narcan vending machines around the county.
The first machine opened last November at the Hidalgo County Adult Probation Office in Edinburg. Four additional machines are now available at Health and Human Services offices in Edinburg, McAllen, Weslaco and Elsa. There is no charge to those who use the machines.
