By The University of Texas at Austin is putting robots in some of its dorms. A new National Science Foundation-funded center led by the university is hoping to understand what happens when people and robots interact over long periods of time.
The Center for Human and Robot Co-Adaptation will bring together researchers from six universities and industry partners to study how humans and robots learn from each other. Researchers say the goal is to understand how people and machines change as they spend more time together.
The center will study the interactions through what researchers call the Human Environment with Robots Facility Network, a series of real-world testing sites including homes, dorms, hospitals and other locations.
