The Dallas City Manger said she missed a scheduled meeting with the city’s public safety associations to take part in a “meet and greet” with President Trump.
The Dallas Fire Fighters Association, National Latino Law Enforcement Organization and Dallas Police Association said they waited to meet with the City Manger for over two hours Thursday.
In a joint letter to Council members and the mayor they wrote, “the City Manger never appeared” and called the move “unacceptable.” Late Friday night, Dallas City Manager Kimberly Bizor Tobert said she “understands” the frustration caused by her “unavoidable absence” and that she and other top local officials were representing the city at the event with the President.
The public safety workers associations are split on a proposed new contract, with some demanding further negotiations and said the meeting was to discuss the city’s final offer face to face.
