By Animal Care Services and Metro Health are reporting a rabid dog in Bexar County for the first time in more than ten years.
City health officials announced on Wednesday that a Husky mix had tested positive for rabies the day before. The dog’s owner says it killed a skunk late last month near the family’s home on the far West Side. In the following weeks, the dog began to behave strangely.
Health officials say the city and county are experiencing an outbreak of rabies among wild animals, so keep an eye on the pets and kids.
