A Brownsville woman is facing federal charges after allegedly claiming to be a Border Patrol agent as part of a fraud scheme.

The U.S. Attorney for the Southern District of Texas has charged 29-year-old Mayra Collins with wire fraud and impersonating a federal agent.

Investigators say Collins posed as a Border Patrol agent to steal money from at least five victims. She could face more than 20 years in prison if convicted.
