The National Weather Service says a heat wave could affect South Texas this weekend. Forecasters say a major heat risk could develop on Saturday due to a combination of high temperatures, elevated humidity and sunny skies.

Some parts of the region could see a heat index between 105 and 110 degrees. The weather service wants area residents to consider canceling outdoor activities, stay hydrated and remain in a cool place while the heat lasts.
