Authorities have confirmed the first case of New World screwworm in the Rio Grande Valley. Starr County officials confirmed Sunday that screwworm larvae were found in a baby calf.
The case was found in the western part of the county, but no other details were released. County officials are working with the Texas Animal Health Commission and other partners to contain the spread of the screwworm
