Normal commercial operations will resume today at the World Trade Bridge in Laredo after a mishap involving anti-immigration buoys.
The federal government planned to install the buoys in the Rio Grande to deter illegal immigrants from crossing the river. But severe flooding floated about 100 of them out of Shelby Park in Eagle Pass and into the river late last week.
Eagle Pass closed two bridges on Thursday while trying to figure out if the buoys posed a threat. Some of the buoys drifted more than 100 miles downstream to Laredo, resulting in the closure of the World Trade Bridge on Sunday as a precaution.
