Google Maps is making the switch from Lake Ontario to “Lake America.” The Geographic Names Information System officially made that change after President Trump signed an executive order last week renaming the body of water on the American side of the border.
Google officials say it uses official government sources like GNIS to update its map information. But only U.S. users will see “Lake America.” Canadians will still see Lake Ontario, and the names will be co-displayed for the rest of the world.
