State and local investigations are underway into the death of an inmate at the Hays County Jail. The sheriff’s office says the inmate was found unresponsive during routine checks around 3:30 a.m. Sunday. Despite life-saving efforts, the inmate was pronounced dead.

Officials say no foul play is suspected and early indications are that the inmate died of natural causes. The inmate’s name hasn’t yet been released.
