Convicted murderer Karmelo Anthony won’t be getting a new trial. Retired Kaufman County District Judge Michael Chitty denied the motion for a retrial. The motion claimed that a “gentleman’s agreement” between trial attorneys hurt Anthony’s ability to testify.

Anthony is serving a 35-year sentence for fatally stabbing fellow student Austin Metcalf at a high school track meet in Frisco last year. His defense team says it plans to appeal Judge Chitty’s ruling.
