Protesters made their voices heard outside the Delaney Hall immigration detention center in Newark, New Jersey Monday after another detainee died over the weekend.
ICE confirms the detainee was 41 year old Edwin Jovanny Lopez Cornejo, and gave no cause of death. Governor Mikie Sherrill put out a statement saying “this tragedy is another painful reminder of why Delaney Hall should be closed.”
Another inmate died in Delaney Hall last December, with no cause of death given in that case either.
